New England Emmy® award-winning filmmaker Jesse Kreitzer, an MFA candidate and instructor in the University of Iowa’s Department of Cinematic Arts presents Sin & Salvation: An Evening of Liquor & Hymns at the Clinton Street Social Club on Thursday, April 9 at 8pm.
The event is a benefit for Kreitzer’s MFA thesis film Black Canaries, an ambitious 1900s coal mining folktale inspired by his Iowan heritage. The evening will feature gospel and sacred harp musical performances from Fairfield’s Prairie Harmony and Iowa City’s Gospel Explosion Ministries and the Iowa-produced films of Jesse Kreitzer, including an exclusive first look at Black Canaries.
The event is free and open to the public. $20 suggested donation.
